Supervised by Jean-Marc Egly, President of the Scientific Council, the IRCAD research teams combine their efforts to prevent cancer, improve early diagnosis and elaborate new therapeutic strategies.

Going forth as a team

The IRCAD's objective is to federate the multiple facets of medical research as the contrary is detrimental to its development. It merges the efforts deployed by several disciplines and is the link between research scientists and industrials.

R&D

Research in computer science

The R&D Computer Department aims to facilitate computer-guided surgical procedures through the development of automation. In partnership with the Research and Medical Robotics Department, this unit develops softwares meant for aiding the surgical treatment of tumors.

Tumor biology and gene therapy lab
This research team is geared up to test the efficacy of specific treatments thanks to a follow-up of the evolution of liver and pancreatic tumors in space and time. In combination with the R&D Units specialized in Computer Science and Research in Medical Robotics, the follow-up of such tumors is entirely robotic.

Nutrition as a means of Cancer Prevention lab
The laboratory's objectives are three-fold:
- to identify chemical components naturally present in fruit and vegetables that are likely to inhibit the appearance and the development of colon cancer;
- to study and understand their mechanism of action at a cellular and molecular level;
- to validate the benefit of these components in the prevention as well as in the treatment of colon cancer with pre-clinical models of experimental colon carcinogenesis.

UAE-IRCAD

Experimental Anesthesia Unit

The first objective of IRCAD’s Experimental Anesthesia Unit (UAE-IRCAD) is to organize the human and material supply of validated and reproducible models to be used by the EITS training center, in compliance with strict ethical principles.
The second activity of the UAE-IRCAD is experimental research in the field of anesthesia and resuscitation, hence maximizing the outstanding potential of the IRCAD’s operating room.
