As seen before, with Direct volume rendering VR-Render can provide a set of 3D views of different patient organs without any pre-computing and in real-time. In VR-Render 0.8, a new surface rendering is also available only if the patient organs have been delineated using the VR-Anat software developed by IRCAD. Such FwXML or “.fxz” files are available in the VR-Render 3D gallery and will be available on Websurg, the virtual surgical university developed by IRCAD.
When such files are read, the 3D MPR view adds the 3D models of anatomical and pathological structures (see image 3D.jpg). The list of delineated organs is then available in the “Organ Manager” windows that appear by using F9 or by selecting the “Manage organ colors” option in the Window menu. The “Organ Manager” windows then allow to display or hide any organ (using the check box) or to modify its transparency thanks to a transparency slider located at the button of the window.
