An important innovation of VR-Render 0.8 is the addition of the possibility to visualize the medical image in a 3D multi-planar rendering. This visualization is available thanks to the “2D and 3D MPR view” option in the Window menu (shortcut being F3), or in the “Show all views” option in the Window menu (shortcut being F4) (see next image).

The 3D MPR view can be manipulated exactly like the 2D MPR view. Rotation of the 3D volume is obtained by pressing the left button and the mouse movements as for volume rendering. Four different modes of visualization are available. The default MPR 3 slices view can thus be replaced using the > button located in the button left part of the 3D window (see next image). The user can remove all planes or display only one plane. Like in the 2D MPR view, the user can add and move distance segments (see distance computation in 2D MPR view) (see next image).

A new oblique plane is available in VR-Render 0.8. It is displayed using the > button and by selecting the “Oblique slice” option. It is possible to translate it by combining a middle button pressing in the central part of the slice and a movement of the mouse (see next image).

Rotation of the plane is obtained the same way by combining a middle button pressing on a border part of the slice and a movement of the mouse (see next image). The rotation can thus be obtained in all directions.
