Telesurgery is no longer a futuristic vision, it is a reality, and its development is accelerating rapidly.
Twenty-four years ago, Professor Jacques Marescaux and IRCAD made history with the Lindbergh Operation, the world’s first transatlantic surgery performed remotely. Today, a new milestone has been reached: the first telesurgical procedure using the hinotori™ robot, developed by Medicaroid.
From IRCAD France, Professor Armando Melani, Scientific Director of IRCAD América Latina, was remotely connected to a surgical team in Kobe, Japan. This achievement represents a major breakthrough in the integration of robotic technology into remote surgery and once again highlights Strasbourg’s leading role in global surgical innovation.
This operation also reflects the strength of international collaboration, bringing together France, Japan, and Brazil in pursuit of a shared goal: to push the boundaries of modern surgery.
And this is only the beginning.
