The official inauguration of the Kawasaki Innovation Centre Europe (KIC-EU) yesterday established Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ inaugural European research, development, and innovation hub dedicated entirely to the medical sector.
Following an introductory press conference hosted by the Région Grand Est, the opening ceremony unfolded at IRCAD. Distinguished attendees included Yasuhiko Hashimoto, President and CEO of Kawasaki Heavy Industries; Franck Leroy, President of the Région Grand Est; Catherine Trautmann, President of the Eurométropole de Strasbourg; and Professor Jacques Marescaux, President and Founder of IRCAD.
Tetsuya Nakanishi, CEO of KIC-EU, moderated the proceedings. The program featured addresses by corporate executives Yoshimoto Matsuda and Atsushi Kameyama, alongside a live demonstration inside an operating room redesigned to showcase the hospital of the future. The event culminated in the public unveiling of CORLEO, illustrating the corporation’s ongoing advancements in surgical robotics.
Positioned strategically within IRCAD, KIC-EU merges Kawasaki’s advanced engineering and robotics capabilities with IRCAD’s clinical and technological proficiency. This synergy aims to fast-track the creation of next-generation medical robotics, artificial intelligence platforms, and advanced clinical infrastructure.
This milestone represents a significant advancement in an enduring collaboration united by a singular objective: uniting engineers, researchers, and clinical surgeons to pioneer the future of global healthcare.
