The inauguration of IRCAD Africa, the very first center of excellence dedicated to minimally invasive surgery on the continent, marked a historic moment. This momentous event took place in the presence of his Excellency President Paul Kagame and was broadcast live on Rwandan television. It signifies the dawn of a new era in African healthcare, with a specific focus on the training of African surgeons in the latest technologies applied to minimally invasive surgery. IRCAD Africa is a crucial component of the ambitious “Kigali Health City” project led by the Rwandan government, which aims to establish a significant medical research hub. This visionary initiative has the potential to positively impact the lives of millions of people seeking high-quality healthcare.
Furthermore, this occasion provided an opportunity to introduce the Franco-Rwandan research team, with special emphasis on the groundbreaking Disrumpere project. This project is poised to revolutionize medical diagnostics through the use of artificial intelligence.

We would like to draw your attention that the « Vaccine Pass » is now mandatory in France since end of January 2022 and replaces the former « Health Pass » to access places that are open to the public, such as cinemas, museums, cafés and restaurants, hotels as well as the IRCAD Institute which welcomes participants in the framework of its courses and seminars. Thus, a PCR test without vaccination is no longer sufficient to take part in our courses.
