The official inauguration of IRCAD North America took place last week in Charlotte, bringing together more than 400 guests from around the world.
Although construction began in 2023, the story started much earlier with a meeting between Professor Jacques Marescaux and Dr. Dionisios Vrochides, initiated by Professor Nicolas Demartines. The project gained momentum with the decisive support of Advocate Health, following the visit to Strasbourg of Dr. Rasu Shrestha, Executive Vice President, and Gene Woods, Chief Executive Officer.
The institute is part of The Pearl, an ambitious project that aims to become the world’s first global medical device corridor. This innovative ecosystem combines a medical school, state-of-the-art surgical training facilities, advanced research laboratories, and collaborative spaces designed to foster innovation and multidisciplinary exchange.
With this opening, IRCAD now counts nine institutes worldwide, a milestone that would have been hard to imagine thirty years ago.
