IRCAD recently had the distinct honor of welcoming His Excellency Mr. Charles Kushner, U.S. Ambassador to France, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Seryl Kushner.
The visit, organized with the invaluable support of Mrs. Yvonne Gonzales, U.S. Consul General to the Grand Est region, marked Ambassador Kushner’s first time in Strasbourg. This occasion provided a unique opportunity to explore IRCAD’s advanced research and teaching platforms, with a specific focus on surgical robotics.
Professor Jacques Marescaux presented the significant partnerships IRCAD has established with leading American medical device companies, including Medtronic, Intuitive Surgical, and Baxter, as well as innovative sector start-ups such as EndoQuest. The Ambassador expressed considerable interest in the presentation of the American start-up XCath, which is developing a pioneering concept for remote stroke treatment.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kushner received a detailed overview of IRCAD North America, a pivotal component of The Pearl project. This ambitious initiative aims to establish the world’s largest medical device innovation corridor.

We would like to draw your attention that the « Vaccine Pass » is now mandatory in France since end of January 2022 and replaces the former « Health Pass » to access places that are open to the public, such as cinemas, museums, cafés and restaurants, hotels as well as the IRCAD Institute which welcomes participants in the framework of its courses and seminars. Thus, a PCR test without vaccination is no longer sufficient to take part in our courses.
